Bopanna and Ankita Lead the Indian Tennis Team at the Asian Games

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has chosen doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna and formeJr Asian Games bronze medalist Ankita Raina to lead India’s tennis effort in the next Asian Games. The 12-person team of six men and six women will represent the country at the continental quadrennial games, which will get underway in Hangzhou on September 23.

Bopanna is joined on the men’s team by Sumit Nagal, Sasikumar Mukund, Davis Cup champion Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri, and Saketh Myneni. Together, they make up a remarkable team of athletes who have excelled in international tournaments and have a wealth of experience.

Ankita Raina, who earlier won the women’s singles bronze medal at the Asian Games, will take the lead. Her supporters would be Karman Kaur Thandi, Rututaj Bhosle, Sahaja Yamlapalli, Vaidehi Chaudhari, and Prarthane Thombare. Prajnesh Gunneswaran also earned a bronze medal in the men’s singles division, increasing India’s total.
